Primary 5 - Social Enterprise Award

Primary 5 - Social Enterprise Award

Pupils in Primary 5 have been working all year on a Social Enterprise. At the beginning of our enterprise journey we had a visit from a social entrepreneur called Jay Lamb. He told us about his business and we were inspired to start our own.

It took us a few weeks of planning and organising to come up with an idea that we all agreed on. We decided to set up a Stationery shop because we realised that both the pupils and the teachers felt there was a need for such a shop within the school. We have decided to support a charity called Project Pencil case which produces attractive and sturdy locally produced fairtrade pencil cases which are made in Ethiopia. Employing women helps keep their children in school.

We have called our shop Stationery Sense and it has been an award achieving success. On Thursday 11th June 2015, pupils from P5 went through to Edinburgh to collect a Social Education Enterprise Award.
